I fixed it! Wanted to share the "fix" with other DUers [View all]

My "FakeNoose" avatar disappeared after the June 17 software update and I couldn't get it to upload.

The fix is to convert the .jpg format (that had always worked before) to .gif format.

Uploaded the .gif image on my profile page - and voila!

"FakeNoose" is back.

I have a custom "FakeNoose" avatar that many of your have seen. I still have my avatar jpg artwork. Luckily I saved it when I originally joined DU. However it's suddenly not appearing as my avatar and I can't get it to upload like it's supposed to - on the My Profile page.

So I now have my "FakeNoose" avatar displaying in the signature line, because it's the only thing that appears to be working.

In the last 2 days I've noticed that a LOT of DU avatars are missing. Something happened during the update.

I'm not suggesting this is the end of the world, because it obviously isn't. But it's the first time this has happened (to me) since I joined DU in 2017. It's kind of puzzling.
