2. x.com links do not work for embedding, however,

twitter.com links still work fine for it, the same as they always have on DU. When embedding a tweet in your post, all you need is the link to the tweet, then just replace x.com with twitter.com and it should work (at least until they turn the embedding feature off I guess).
