I have never had (nor want) a twitter account but will also use the "web" versions of twitter to view tweets too - particularly to get the "breaking news" links that are included by the major media outlets in their tweets. It's much easier than trying to fruitlessly hunt through their websites to get to the article.

You might also need to clear cookies added specifically by twitter after doing that too - sortof like doing a "reset" of their "view" of your machine to clear their "old" stuff out (it's been awhile since I got it working but for some reason that seems to feel familiar as another thing to do if it still acts up). That can be done through the same settings under the "Cookies and Site Data" / "Manage data" option (where you can search for "twitter" and just have it clear those cookies that one time).
