4. I am so frustrated with a good friend of mine

Who twice was offered a grade 12 job in the federal government. She is an 11 now but a grade 12 comes with a nice pay raise but does include some meeting with the big boss every week with the other 12's. She doesn't want to deal with the meetings which is just an overview with what is going on in the department. So because she said no they opened up the position and of course a male gets it...stays a year and leaves for a 13 at another agency. So again she is offered and says no thanks. Ugh! We also have a grade 7 who I have known 20 years who was offered a 9 position but she said after 40 years she is comfortable where she is...she is only 58 so even if she is in the position 3 years that is a huge retirement increase...she is under old system which was a better retirement. Not a lot of examples but those are my biggest disappointments. I love both of them but they are are happy where they are and really that is what counts in the end I guess. I am male and always want the next grade increase. I have been in federal government for 5 years and went from grade 6 to 7 to 9 in a short time and that was with hiring freezes.I am looking for thet 11 as we speak. I retired military which is why I am late into the federal government.
