History of Feminism

Ever notice how that, in the midst of all the sexist jokes, the general mean-spirited banter, the "tough guy" act, the MRA talking points, the death threats directed against feminists and others online who dare to question the Straight White Male, and all the other "macho" posturing and bullshit, many of these men are incredibly insecure, with easily bruised egos and inferiority complexes?
I'm sure you've all seen this on DU and other websites, maybe even some IRL (In Real Life). Here's an example from another (no-political) forum: Someone posted a thread about how Facebook's Sheryl Sandberg's campaign urging people to think twice before calling young women and girls "bossy" was the "stupidest campaign ever." The thread quickly degenerated further into people whining about the "bitchiness" of people (read: women) who are "taking political correctness too far." Furthermore, a few posters even brought in a few of the MRA "Men are the REAL victims of sexist oppression!" easily debunked talking points. And many of the posters complained about "not being able to say what we want, when we want" and "the erosion of free speech!" because of the "PC brigade." Hmm..where have we hear that before?
Basically, the thread was a sorry display of sexism and misogyny from a forum that is not political, but is definitely dominated by middle-class white men (who, as I have found, tend to have fragile, easily provoked egos). You'd think we'd be past this in 2014...but as you all know, sadly, we are not. Far from it.
