It's not just television and movies. Because some people don't watch TV or go to movies. It's the psychology of architecture. It's the propaganda of advertising and the design of the laws that govern every move we make. We are owned. Until people are ready to stop the ownership and the prerequisite that only the cream rises to the top nothing will change. The 1% will prevail.
