Medical Doctors said go see Dentists who specialize in TMJ treatment. 6 months and thousands of $$$ poorer with some improvement but still not 100% feeling healthy, coworker turned me on to a Chiropractor he believed would help me.
To make a long story short this Chiropractor who didn't believe in "cracking bones" realigned me, gave me some areas behind my ears to massage while moving my jaw in different positions. Started feeling a lot better migraines going away, stopped seeing the TMJ Dentist.
2nd trip to this Chiropractor about 6 months later, he said I had a bad arch in my left foot and if I'd buy these custom fitted arch supports from him for $35 I could probably quit having to see Chiropractors all together. Had been going about every 6 months since high school.
The custom fitted arch supports worked wonders along with how to massage my head nerve endings and I got back to 100%
healthy. Forget over the counter one size fits all arch supports, find the ones Doctors, Chiropractors and some shoe stores furnish where you step bare footed into a medium hard/soft foam box and leave an impression and you get the custom made supports back in a few weeks.
One last note, it's my understanding that the older we get the less TMJ issues affect us. My TMJ Dentist told me that by the time people are in their mid 50s our bodies have adjusted/adapted to any misalignment's and problems from TMJ should be nonexistent.
Locally Dentists are telling retired people who mention a headache or any other aches & pains that they should be treated for TMJ. IMO, these Dentists are either way misinformed or deliberately stealing from people. You older than mid 50s?
