To be honest, however, it seems that one of the main problems in this regard, is that the philosophy of ontological materialism(i.e. humans are nothing more than biological robots, consciousness is an illusion, etc.)has taken a rather tough grip on the scientific establishment.....which has made it rather tough for those few mavericks(although increasing in number!), willing to take the plunge.
