4. Metaphorical Jesus does help some sleep better at night

When you can’t quite manage to delude yourself enough to buy into all the bible’s silliness, it’s Metaphorical Jesus to the rescue. Then all you have to do is delude yourself into thinking the anonymous biblical authors didn’t mean what they obviously meant.
