but there was cross party determination to get past them. A number of attempted amendments were reminiscent of the RW tactics in n the US like making the names and addresses of the doctors publicly available.

The next big battle is the schools ... 93% are tied religiously, 85% Catholic. In primary schools, religion is a full subject and the teachers prepare the children for Communion and Confirmation during the year, including bringing them to the church for mass etc. They obviously don't want to give that free indoctrination up easily.
