whatever remaining moral and spiritual authority white Protestant Evangelicals had in the real world.

As the younger Evangelicals reach their fifties and sixties and look around at their tiny, remaining congregations and their long-abandoned or repurposed mega-churches and wonder what the deuce happened, few of them will have the intellectual bravery or integrity to realize that their downfall came about when they decided to support Donald Trump and support him regardless of his character flaws and moral failings.

In the meantime, I expect that their Afro-American counterparts will persevere, as will at least some "Mainstream Protestant" congregations who resisted the temptation to worship Mammon and Trump.
