He intentionally had himself carded in the first leg so that he could serve his suspension in the second leg, thinking it was in the bag anyway. He made the mistake of admitting it on TV, and the ban was extended to 2 matches.

Real were awful today, and could have really used the bastard. Could have been 2-8 today, and even the VAR couldn't save Real.

In one week, Real crashed out of the cup, the league, and now the champions league through successive home losses. Fantastic!
