Rivers was one of the HoF semifinalists announced this year. If he takes a game snap, he will reset his clock for another five years. Seems nuts.

But, I guess if HoF is really, really important for Rivers, he may agree with the opinion that he's not a for-sure candidate right now and only dragging the Colts to the playoffs is likely to add enough to his history to tip things in his favor. In 2030...

Edit: Oops. Just saw the article and it clarifies he can be on the practice squad without resetting, but if they promote him to the 53 man roster, even without actually playing, the clock resets.
