but I had an astoundingly good day yesterday! Years ago, I invented what I call a 'Tide Trifecta'. Being an Alabama Crimson Tide fan, I root almost as hard for Auburn and Notre Dame to lose, each week, as I do for Alabama to win. I came in shortly before 6pm, with the Alabama game about to start, to find Northern Illinois down by one point to Notre Dame, but driving with the ball and in field goal range. I immediately changed the channel, so as not to jinx them, and they made the field goal and won the game. Big upset!
Then I checked and Cal is leading Auburn, in Auburn, by seven and with the ball, with time running out. I sweated that one with the gametracker on the CBS NCAA scores page, until time ran out for Auburn. Now I only have to pull the Tide past South Florida. Not an easy task, as Bama kept finding new ways to shoot themselves in the foot, losing two touchdown plays with offensive line holding calls. Then , they fumbled the second half kickoff after a great return to about midfield. If SF had a quarterback who was as good a passer as he is a runner, they could have beaten Alabama, but the Tide defense stiffened in the second half, and won going away late in the game. I got my first Tide Trifecta of the Kalen DeBoer era! And in only his second game too.
