...second cousin I think, played MLB for about 8 years (Dodgers & Mariners) then a few years in Japan.
When he retired (mid 30s I think) he started a baseball academy, the purpose of which was to try to improve the skills of 13-17 year Olds to make them good enough to get scholarship money to play baseball in college.
Wasn't promising the major leagues. In fact, told kids & parents the kid won't make the majors but could go to college cheap or free.
He sold the academy a few years ago when he retired to a group of coaches that worked at some of the 15 or 20 sites.
They are legit & honest baseball academies out there, but a lot are just money grabs.
