Because ancient, important mathematical trade hieroglyphics strongly resemble parts of the Eye of Horus, early researchers were mislead into what appeared to be a reasonable conclusion.
Here is the Eye of Horus fractions theory, which was later disproved:



Can anyone see how strongly the cobra-head of this ancient carving of Cobra-Goddess, Wadjet, resembles The Eye of Horus, which was sacred, in later Egyptian Dynasties?



Notice that the Cobra Goddess is wearing the crown of Lower Egypt indicating that this carving predates Pharaohs, who ruled both Upper and Lower Egypt.
