Koko was a mountain gorilla born in captivity. She learned sign language and understood about 2,000 words of spoken English.

Koko adopted a kitten and named it All Ball. A famous Nat Geo cover showed the massive ape cuddling the kitten.

At one point, she got mad at a human staffer and cussed him out in sign language: "you stinking green shit".

An ape which can name and cuddle a pet and create her own cuss-out is superior to an awful lot of humans.
