Decipherment of the Easter Island Tablets [View all]

What is the significance of the decipherment of the Easter Island tablets?
These Rongorongo writing boards preserve an early Polynesian Indigenous spirituality, ritual and world-view. Only those initiated into the island's wisdom schools or harekura (wharekura) were enabled to learn the ancient script. The writing was made a tapu or sacred restriction that covered the wisdom school and protected it from those who were unprepared for the sacred writing. Today everyone in the world has been restricted from learning the ancient Rongorongo writing. This presents an opportunity to open a wisdom school for the entire world to enter, if the sacred tapu can be lifted. The following link contains a book that for the first time deciphers these Easter Island tablets. However, raise this tapu only if you are willing to follow in the footsteps of these Indigenous elders who wrote it... They will be looking for someone willing to weave their own human identity into their local environment....
