many of the oldest residents of the area would gather at the one-room church/school (from the 1800's) across from our farmhouse to sing hymns on Friday nights. None were under 70. One night, as I sat on the porch listening to their full-throated but totally off-key renditions, a large pack of coyotes took up station nearby and joined in. Most incredible racket I have ever heard.
