But I'm not holding my breath. There are ways to be diplomatic when answering questions instead of going into full denial.

Why take the post to begin with? Why remain? Why not just step down for family or health reasons?

Not sure why he's staying at his job considering lives will be lost. Whether they're US citizens without health coverage, innocent people in other countries = "collateral damage", immigrants. Why be a part of this?
