2. The best intervention counseling is peer-to-peer among 'battle buddies'

But a lot of the young vets I've talked to say that's no help because their battle buddies are drinking and drugging and are not a helpful part of their support systems.

Some say they find more help and support from us Vietnam vets (which really isn't surprising, as we've had the time to go through it all, both the negative and the positive--and they're talking to the survivors).

Hotlines can be good as a last resort for some, but there's nothing like the help and support brother and sister vets can give. We care, and we will not let a a fellow or sister vet go down.
