My wife worked at two VA hospitals and she provided really good care to her patients (she is also a Vet). If you get a caring and competent provider there is no better place than the VA for health care. She worked with some really lazy providers as well. After one provider retired her computer had over 500 view-alerts that she never looked at or opened. These view-alerts tell the provider of test results that need immediate attention and other time sensitive issues. Overall the VA can be great or crappy, depends on who you get.
