USS Northampton [View all]

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USS_Northampton_%28CA-26%29

My dad was Chief Petty Officer quartermaster when the ship was sunk by a Japanese torpedo.

Herman Wouk wrote "Winds of War" which included this story.

My dad died a couple years ago.

Didnt talk about the war often but when he did he said it was what it was, he did what he did, then he came home and started a family.

He was a good guy.
