2. Failure to know what's BEHIND your target is attempted murder.

I like guns, I think people should own and carry, I approve of lethal self-defense. But if you fire that weapon, you are responsible for what happens afterwards.

I have a lot of guns, and I like shooting them, and I care not in the slightest what happens to any criminal attempting to deprive a person of life or property. But I've also had an idiot neighbor who thought a 30:06 rifle was an appropriate thing to threaten someone with in a residential neighborhood. It's not, that round could easily penetrate dirtbag, a couple of walls, and my wife's skull across the street.

No problem if someone ventilates a burglar or home invader; but unless you are using a frangible round inside and know what's on the other side of that wall you deserve jail if you injure another person or their property, just like the dirtbag criminals.
