The People (being land-owning men) were given the right to own an arm, and the right to bear that arm in the company of a well-regulated militia. To "bear an arm" meant to carry a gun for use in combat. I'm afraid your extension of the Second Amendment to include the necessity to "establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity" would not be accepted by anyone with a thorough knowledge of constitutional law. Good try, though. Might fool a few yokels, but if you look into the history of militias, you will find their primary purpose was to put down rebellions against the government. Exactly the opposite of the NRA reading.
