"Putting new duplicates of guns specifically prohibited by a 1998 ban on assault weapons in her sights, Healey promised the state's 350 firearm sellers increased enforcement, and woke the "sleeping giant" of Second Amendment advocates.

"There's nearly half a million of us in Massachusetts -- Republican, Democrat and independent -- and she's really woken up a sleeping giant, and her chances of getting elected governor or keeping her office could be over," Massachusetts Gun Rights President Christopher Pinto told the News Service. That afternoon, Gadsden flags flew on the steps of the Statehouse as gun-rights supporters pressed their case that the attorney general was reaching beyond her authority."
