From reports at the time, almost half the residents of Texas lost power (some 15 million people) for some amount of time. Hardest hit and last to have power restored were the poorest areas and those areas dominated by poc. We got lucky: our power went out, came back on for a few hours, then went out again for a few days. Fortunately, we had several old fashioned oil lamps we used mostly in our main living area, and they put out enough heat to keep our living area at about 55F.
