It helps a lot to share the loss because everyone on this forum has gone through it and understands. Our animal companions just don't stay with us long enough, do they? But we wouldn't want to live without them anyway, even knowing the eventual outcome. At 17 years a cat is on borrowed time, maybe even more so for a dog, but knowing what's coming doesn't make it any easier when it happens. And then we do it all over again because having them in our lives is worth the grief when their lives end. Thank you all again.
