22. Ryobi. Seriously.

After being furious at my old gas powered mower one too many years, I bought a Ryobi 40V electric. THEY ARE FANTASTIC. There is only one flaw in the early design, which has probably been fixed in later models - one screw that loosens on the side of the handlebars that makes the safety think it’s not ok, so it won’t turn in until it’s tightened. No big deal (this is a 1-2x per year job). I LOVE this thing.

1. Pushbutton.

2. Mows more POWERFULLY than my old Honda, which was a nice mower.

3. Will work even in tall (almost calf high after weeks of storms!), damp grass.

4. No drama. It just works.

5. One battery will do either the from or back yard. But there’s a holder in the mower for a 2nd battery, so you can just switch and go.

The only thing you have to be careful of is to get the newer generation of batteries (a couple models of older gen ones were easily damaged), and keep them in a climate controlled area. They don’t last as long if you freeze them!
