should have done that before buying the plant, but...anyway, discovered that this variety, although pretty, is not particularly well-liked for a bicolor tomato for various reasons. also, mr. stripey is known to produce "bull" plants, which may be what i have 
i'd really hate to pull the plant, but we'll see. at least the other two plants are producing well!
