Does anyone know what this plant is? [View all]

It's the only one on my lot that I don't know. It was here when we bought the place. It's evergreen, likes being in the shade and has never been watered, which is amazing for inland southern California. I don't think it's a native, I've not seen any in the wild around here, only in people's yards. I'd love to find some more of these in a nursery or somewhere so I can create a screen on a shady property line where I have no irrigation (and a creepy neighbor, lol).

Closer up with my hand for perspective:

Anyone?
