1. I know of nothing that will kill just the trees,

but I don't have a lot of knowledge of chemicals. What kind of trees are coming up? Are they first year/coming from seed?

All I know to do is what I do....I have oak trees that put out a profusion of acorns, which all the squirrels "plant" for me, as well as some maples with all the thousands of helicopters with seeds. I hand pick them as soon as I see them, before they take hold, but that is work.
