Volunteers in the lawn [View all]

Does anyone know the best way to get rid of tree volunteers in their grass lawn? We have a zillion trees in my neighborhood and I want to get rid of the volunteers that I invariably get in spring. I know that mowing takes care of some, but is there some kind of systemic potion that I can put on the lawn. I don't want to kill the lawn!
