2. The first test was for mitochondrial DNA only.

The 23andMe test is much more comprehensive. If you get tested, you and your cousin can compare ancestry and health results. You'll also learn what percentage of your DNA is Neanderthal. I'm not sure if that's relevant but it is interesting. The test confirmed for me that my father was, in all likelihood from an Irish family. He was adopted, so I wasn't sure. All things considered, I think it's worth the $99.
