Is it because mostly women do it? There's no saying that men can't. Personally, I find bellydancing a wee bit silly but I'm Scottish, and I like step dancing, so there's no accounting for taste. Anyway, I think you (used in the general) could say anything is sexist but that doesn't make it necessarily so.
