Chino was yet another school board taken over by stealth Talibornagain candidates determining to Ram through a Christian Nationalist agenda. Their rules were bad enough that the state superintendent had to show up to criticize them at a public meeting – they cut him off when he tried, and then led a protest in Sacramento where they labeled him an ally of Satan.

The frightening thing is that there are school board elections coming up all over the country in a couple of months, and it’s often practically impossible to tell which candidates are secretly doing the bidding of the nearest fundie megachurch, since they’re careful to couch their agenda in anodyne terms about academic excellence and the like. Personally, I’m suspicious of any candidate who has an unusually early appearance of a large number of professionally designed campaign signs, but that’s no guarantee.
