(39,961 posts)22. I had a friend that was nearly beaten to death
on the street in Houston, TX. His partner couldn't ride with him to the hospital, and everyone just stood around in shock.
We never knew what happened, because the family sealed off all contact, blamed his friends for the incident, and that was that.
I can't imagine how bad it was for him to wake up impaired and with no one he knew or cared about around him, cut off from all of his friends.
I regret that I didn't try harder to get in touch with him to this day.
