5 Insidious Covert Ops of Our Government (and 3 Put Into Action)
2. CIA Funding Commie Iranian Bombings
JamesScreen Shot 2015-02-09 at 5 Risen of The New York Times notes that the the CIA, along with British officials, ran a secret program to fund bombings by Iranians posing as Communists. Britain was fearful Iran would nationalize its oil industry. The goal of the bombings was to instigate Irans religious community to oust Irans democratically elected prime minister and return the shah of Iran to power. The coup succeeded.
Operation Northwoods
Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Lyman Lemnitzer signed off on a plan which originated in the Department of Defense to commit acts of terrorism inside the U.S., including blowing up airplanes. The goal was to blame Castro to justify a Cuban invasion. President Kennedy ended up rejecting the plan. Research this one more yourselves. Also take note of Operation Mongoose.
The Iraq War
This U.S. military adventure speaks for itself. The case can be made that the war was waged based on the false claims of large stockpiles of Iraq WMDs and the alleged ties between Saddam Hussein and al Qaeda. Remember Curveball the Iraqi informant? His intelligence was questioned by many in the actual intelligence community. Yet the Bush administration pushed Curveballs intelligence to make the case for war. Curveball now resides in Germany. A former CIA official, Tyler Drumheller, says Curveball was simply a guy trying to get his green card essentially
and playing the system for what it was worth. In 2011, Curveball admitted to the The Guardian that he lied about his story, then watched in shock as it was used to justify the war.
