While reading of the article, I suddenly felt it's too possible what is learned about these beautiful creatures must be guarded, used in ways that ALWAYS have the protection of the whales first, and above everything else.
There are still twisted cultures which insist on killing whales, in spite of entreaties from less barbaric nations. From Wikipedia:
Contemporary whaling is subject to intense debate. Canada, Iceland, Japan, Norway, Russia, South Korea, the United States and the Danish dependencies of the Faroe Islands and Greenland continue to hunt in the 21st century. Countries that support commercial whaling, notably Iceland, Japan, and Norway, wish to lift the IWC moratorium on certain whale stocks for hunting.[4] Anti-whaling countries and environmental groups oppose lifting the ban. Under the terms of the IWC moratorium, aboriginal whaling is allowed to continue on a subsistence basis.[5] Over the past few decades, whale watching has become a significant industry in many parts of the world; in some countries it has replaced whaling, but in a few others, the two business models exist in an uneasy tension. The live capture of cetaceanss i for display in aquaria (e.g., captive killer whales) continues.

I'm sure those who've made progress already have taken this all into account and would have already planned counter measures to prevent this breakthrough's becoming a doorway for those who would destroy the whales instead.
Getting actual evidence of consciousness in the world's other beings should instantly start raising our own awareness far beyond where it has languished all this time, transform us all, or at least those who pay attention!
It's still taking time for this information to sink in, LT. Barclay! It's so enormous, would be so transformative.
I absolutely have to post a photo of some sperm whales sleeping in their own world, to celebrate:
Whalehenge.
Thank you for this wonderful information. 🐋 ⭐️
