This is incredibly sad and infuriating.
"The ship’s captain and first officer have been charged with “endangering safe navigation.” Sounds like a slap on the wrist, especially when they can't explain why they were so far off course.
The article doesn't say whether the Japanese government--or the shipping company--will be required to clean up the mess.
