Family Dollar sells 12 oz. packages of hot dogs for $1.00.

2 tbsp butter or ghee, divided $0.16
1 pkg hot dogs or wieners of your choice, sliced $1.00
1/2 onion, coarsely chopped $0.05
1 carrot, coarsely chopped $0.17
2 cloves garlic, minced $0.07
2 tbsp brown mustard $0.15
1 tbsp tomato paste $0.06 I usually just use ketchup so as not to waste a can of paste
2 cups chicken broth $0.12
1/2 tsp salt, more to taste
1/2 tsp black pepper, more to taste $0.04
1 pinch nutmeg
2 lbs. potatoes boiled $0.80
Subtotal $2.62
This serves 4 so the cost for a single serving is $0.66.
Add
8 fl. oz. 2% milk $0.18
1 banana $0.25
1 slice bread $0.09
2 tsp of soft margarine $0.04
Total cost per serving is $1.22
