Edit: Family Dollar sells 12 oz package of hot dogs for $1.00 and the store is selling spuds at $1.29 for a 5 lb. bag so I updated the costs

As I make my own sauerkraut, I'll use the cost of raw cabbage when on sale.

2 cups sauerkraut (approx. 1 lb.) $0.78

2 hotdogs $0.25

side dish

1 lb. of boiled potatoes $0.20

Subtotal is $1.29.

This serves 2 people so cost per serving is $0.59.

Add
8 fl. oz. 2% milk $0.18
1 banana $0.25
1 slice bread $0.09
2 tsp of soft margarine $0.04

Total cost per serving is $1.15
