There were and still are many problems with management of contaminated water, and agriculture in the region was severely affected by soil contamination. The government estimated costs of the cleanup were about $200 billion. The safety risk driving extensive and necessary regulation and the resulting high capital costs at each phase of development, operation, and decommissioning have much more to do with the slow development of nuclear energy than the writings of "anti-nukes".

Meanwhile, Trump has blocked development of Offshore Wind farms off the East Coast. But energy sucking Data Centers are popping up everywhere.
