At the European Hydrogen Week in Brussels, organized by Hydrogen Europe, we had the opportunity to speak with Guy Bühler, Head of Hydrogen at Axpo, and Luka Cuderman, Hydrogen Strategist at Axpo. Axpo, a Swiss energy company, is a major player in electricity generation and is now leading the way in green hydrogen development. The company is leveraging its expertise in renewable energy and logistics to bridge gaps in the hydrogen value chain, tackling challenges like production costs and regulatory complexities. Axpo’s approach focuses on creating economically viable projects, collaborating with policymakers, and ensuring a smooth transition to a sustainable hydrogen economy.

Their notable projects include the operational hydrogen production plant in Domat/Ems, Switzerland, and upcoming facilities in Uri and Brugg. Internationally, Axpo is expanding with projects in France, Italy, Portugal, and Iceland, focusing on synthetic fuels and hydrogen for industrial applications. With a strong European presence and comprehensive solutions ranging from energy management to market integration, Axpo stands out as a key partner in advancing the global hydrogen economy.
