one huge El Paso Gas plant near the town, and the workers and families, my husband's included, lived there in houses provided by the company.. low rent, lots of pollution, noise and otherwise, but that was one plant. The explosion of fracking has changed the area so much. We were in Hobbs last spring, first time since my father in law died in 2012 and the growth is astounding, and depressing.. on our first trip down there more than 35 years ago, I loved it and wanted to move there.. just a small, dirty NM town, but to me it was beautiful!
