2. Here's a two sentence summary of the JOLTS report

Thursday
The number of job openings fell in November according to the latest government data, while the hiring rate was a paltry 3.2%. There were 1.1 unemployed people for every available job, the highest level since early 2021.


I haven't looked yet for a full English language version of the JOLTs report (as opposed to "changed little" this and "changed little" that repeated endlessly jibber jabber). Apparently it was a bad report

Layoff plans for December hit lowest monthly level since 2024 in 'positive sign,' Challenger says
Announced job cuts for all of 2025, though, were at their highest since 2020.
