AI has exacerbated a hiring squeeze. Applicants are using AI to tweak their resumes, and are able to do so faster. I'm seeing recruiter videos and hearing anecdotal evidence of companies receiving not 200, but 2000 resumes per opening. Hiring managers also have jobs to do and can't process that amount of applications. 80% or more go in the trash without being considered. Managers make poor hiring decisions, or put them off until they refine their criteria. So openings go unfilled.
