1. I suspect that slavery is a bigger untouched sore spot in Brazil than

Here in the US. Slavery lasted longer in Brazil and a LOT more Africans were taken from their African homes and brought to Brazil than were taken to the US. I’m not defending slavery in colonial North America or in the US prior to Emancipation, but slaver is an elephant in the room in Brazil and elsewhere in South America.
