Go to the Apple symbol in the top left of the menu bar.

Pulldown to About this Mac.

I have a feeling you have an older version of Mail. If that's true I won't be much more help.

Looks like there are a couple of Apple Stores in the KC area. You might want to make an appointment for the Genius Bar. They won't charge you for what I think would be a pretty easy fix for someone in person.

At least you know that your filed mail is there. Just needs to be reorganized.
