"Crying Nazi" Christopher Cantwell back in Charlottesville Area Court. [View all]

Edit to clarify that this was in Albemarle County court. UVA is for the most part in Albemarle County and the charges related to the UVA torch procession are in that court.

ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (WVIR) -

Bond conditions have changed for Christopher Charles Cantwell, the man charged in connection to a torch-lit rally at the University of Virginia last summer.

A judge in Albemarle Circuit Court ruled Thursday, April 26, that the 37-year-old New Hampshire man will be held behind bars until he gets an alcohol bracelet.

The judge’s ruling comes after Cantwell was charged for public swearing and intoxication in Loudon County on March 31. He was released on his own recognizance.

A judge has ruled that “Crying Nazi” Christopher Cantwell will go back to jail temporarily after this hearing, until he can receive an alcohol monitoring bracelet from Central Virginia Monitoring. She has yet to rule on other motions.

A Central Virginia Monitoring representative was able to bring the alcohol monitoring bracelet to the courthouse, so Cantwell won’t be going back into custody. He is not allowed to consume any more booze while he awaits his trial.
